Bathyconchoecia lacunosa (Müller, G.W., 1906)

Originally described as a Euconchoeciaspecies, this species was attributed to the new genus Bathyconchoeciaby Deevey (1968b). The majority of Bathyconchoecia species are benthopelagic deep slope environments or abyssal depths. Relatively few have been reported either high in the water column or over continental shelves. So the two reports of B. lacunosa from shallow shelf seas from along the eastern coast of India (James, 1973) are almost certainly a different species.
