Paramollicia major (Müller, G.W., 1906) Records: 28
This uncommon species was originally described as a large subspecies of Conchoecia plactolycos by Müller (1906), and was subsequently raised to full specific rank by Deevey (1974) after Poulsen (1973) has established the new genus. It is predominantly a Southern Ocean deep mesopelagic/bathypelagic species, which either infrequent in occurrence or has been undersampled. The specimens from the tropical North Atlantic and the North Pacific need to be compared with typical specimens from the Southern Ocean to confirm that they are conspecific.
