Vityazoecia lunata (Deevey, 1978)
Records: 2 (plus one very tentative record in very deep water in N. Atlantic).

This species has only been reliably recorded twice and may be endemic to the Southern Ocean. However, similar looking specimens have been taken at depths of 3000m in the North Atlantic, so it may prove to be a widespread species at abyssopelagic depths.
