Loricoecia loricata (Claus, 1894) Records: 184
This is a species that is often a dominant in halocyprid population at mesopelagic depths, particularly at temperate latitudes. In the Southern Ocean all records are from north of the Subantarctic Front. Like so many halocyprid species a small subspecies has occasionally been reported, but we have been unable to discriminate between the records of the normally sized and small forms.
