Conchoecilla chuni (Müller, G.W., 1906) Records: 146
This is a Southern Hemisphere endemic that is almost exclusively confined to south of 30°S. There are a few records from slightly lower latitudes, but one by Müller (1906) from the equator in the Atlantic stands out as being anomalous. The presence of this species in the Gulf of Guinea has not been subsequently confirmed despite the region being quite intensive sampled (e.g. Poulsen, 1969b). Its bathymetric range is from the <100m to 750m, and it is predominantly a shallow mesopelagic species.
